We were very saddened to learn of Chris' tragic death, but we learned of it after the Mass and funeral. We would have been there to give Joan, Lisa and all the Hughes family our condolences in person. They were our neighbors until recently, but we do not know how to get in touch with Joan or Lisa. Please excuse the lateness of this entry, but we had some problems. However, we wanted you all to know that we have included Christopher in our prayers, as well as the rest of the family. Gene Hughes and Ivan worked in the same company for years and the Hughes boys and my children were in high school together. They lived two doors down the street, so we saw each other occasionally despite our busy lives. Chris did some work on our house many years ago. May God help you overcome your grief at this time and bring peace to the whole family. God bless the soul of Christopher Hughes.

Our family sends your family our deepest
sympathies. We were so shocked and saddened to learn of Chris's tragic accident.
Chris had done alot of work on our roof a little over 3 years ago. He had kindly made time to come check on a new issue the Sunday before last. He couldn't have been kinder. We visited and caught up for a bit. Chris spent time telling us about his oldest daughter and how proud he was of her accomplishments and how he hoped the same for his son who is also in high school. He beamed.
We were so happy to see he had had both of his hips replaced and was out of pain since we last saw him. We got the feeling he did everything for his family, including his mother!

We are keeping you all in our thoughts and know Chris will be watching over you all forever.
We were so glad to have known Chris.

I only met Chris once when I was taking a picture of his barn to use for a watercolor. He was so gracious and I was very impressed by him. Then I learned that my husband Peter knew him. We both are so saddened by the tragic accident and the family are very much in our prayers.
