Cresenzo Signore, 89, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Elvira Colacchio Signore for sixty-seven years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Born in Stamford on July 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Virgil and Mary Lopiano Signore. Cresenzo who was affectionately known as Chris or “Cush” was a standout football player at Stamford High School. After graduation from high school he served in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the Philippines. Following the service he enrolled at Rider College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He was the owner of Elmrite Fuel Corp., a major home heating oil company in Fairfield County. Upon his retirement, he and his loving wife spent many winters at their Florida home.  Cresenzo was a truly generous and giving man who consistently contributed to various charities over the years. He was an avid walker for over fifty years in all types of weather. He is survived by his sons Virgil and Kevin of Shelton and Fred and his wife Gerri of Bridgeport.  He is also survived by five cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull at 8:45a.m., on Saturday, February 4, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45a.m., at St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport. Interment will follow with full military honors in the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown.  The family would like to thank the staff at Northbridge Health Care and Athena Hospice for all the special care and support they provided.
