Doris M. Butterfield passed into the arms of Jesus on July 9, 2017. She had just passed her 90th birthday. To those who hold fond memories of her, she will affectionately be remembered as Grandma B, G.G., Auntie, Mrs. B, and the infamous Dorrie Mae. Doris is the widow of Jack Butterfield and is survived by their three daughters Mary Marino and Patricia Butterfield, both of Bridgeport, and Jean (David) Ratzenberger of Florida, and her nephew and Godson George Fignar. She leaves behind ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Lillian (Hull) Silvestro. Doris had six siblings; Julie (George Fignar), Anthony (Nancy), Robert, Richard (Beverly), Frank (Arone), and Joseph, Jr. (Mary). There are numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is a 1945 graduate of Warren Harding High School.  Dorrie Mae loved John Wayne, Paul Newman, a good glass of champagne, and Hershey Bars with almonds were her favorite. She held dear St. John’s Episcopal Church, where for many years she was involved in the inner workings of the Parish. Being a lover of all foods, she totally enjoyed her many jobs in the food service. Traveling was a passion; visiting the Florida Keys and Cuba in her prime, “dragging” her three children and nephew camping across country in her mid-years, and then on to Germany and Europe. In later years she fulfilled her dream of an African Safari. Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of her life on Wednesday, August 23rd from 6 to 9p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Please wear happy colors, red was her favorite and bring a memory to share. Memory sharing will start at 7:15p.m. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 24th at 10:00a.m., in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Park and Fairfield Avenues, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CT Public Television or the CT Alzheimer’s Association. To send online condolences please visit www.redgatehennessy.com
