Dorothy “Dottie” Kollar, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on February 29. Dorothy Kathleen McGrath was a proud Irish-American, born the third of four children in the Bronx, NYC to William McGrath and Ellen Doolan from County Tipperary in Ireland. In grade school, she moved to Bridgeport, CT and attended Central High School. Dottie was married to the love of her life, John P. Kollar, until his passing. She was a longtime resident of Fairfield, CT (including Lantern Point, part of Fairfield Beach), Trumbull, CT Okemo, VT. Dottie was predeceased by her husband John, her son Michael and her grandson Jack, along with her siblings Judge William McGrath, Theresa Kozak and Mary Ellen Sosik. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her three devoted sons, John and his wife Mary, William and his wife Edel, Joseph and his wife Tracey; five cherished grandchildren: John and his wife Maggie, Charlie and his wife Sarah, Hannah and her husband Kenny, Sean and his wife Ariana, and Kevin and his wife Kelsey; and five beloved great grandchildren: Ben, Rory, Hailey, Liam and Brooks Varner. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull.
