Dorothy Ann Sliva Smith age 87, of St. Charles, IL passed away July 26, 2017. Dorothy was born to Peter and Katherine Sliva on July 16, 1930 in Bridgeport, was raised in Trumbull and had also resided in Fairfield. She was a graduate of Bassick High School and was employed for many years with La Resista, Inc. Dorothy enjoyed gardening , reading, spending time with her grandchildren, taking long walks with her loving husband Ray, dancing (especially Polka dancing) and traveling. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles, IL for 41 years. She served as president of the Woman’s Club and was very active in the ministries of the Church. She is survived by her three children; Thomas (Maureen) Smith of Bethel, Howard (Melinda) Smith of Trumbull, Cheri Smith-Westphall (Jeffrey) Hunt of St. Charles, IL, five grandchildren; Cloë Smith-Westphall, Avery Smith-Westphall, Gavin Hunt, Marissa (Joseph) Smith, Bradley Smith, three sisters; Mary Sliva, Caroline Tilt, Cecelia Sliva, three brothers; Stanley Sliva, Peter M. Sliva, Charles Sliva all of Trumbull, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband Ray, sister Frances Galanek, four brothers; John J. Sliva Sr., Stephen Sliva, Joseph Sliva and Frank Sliva. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan, Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601.
