Shirley A. Lockhart Meade, R.N., age 88, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Meade, passed away, Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Maefair Health Care Center. She was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the Bridgeport Hospital Nursing Alumnae Association. She was the coordinator of the parish nurse program at St. Andrew Church and also a member of their choir. She was very active in golf and an avid golfer. She served as past president and honorary member of the Southern Connecticut Women’s Golf Association, past president of the D. Fairchild Wheeler Women’s Golf Club, past tournament chairperson for the Connecticut Women’s Amateur Golf Association, and a member of the Southern New England Women’s Golf Association. She was also a member of the Nutmeg Women’s B.M.F.T.H. Bowling League. She is survived by three sons; retired Bridgeport Fire Department Captain Michael Meade and wife Paulette of Stratford, Raymond Meade and wife Michele of Stratford, and Brian Meade and wife Jana of Bluffton, SC, five grandchildren; Sarah Meade, Michael Meade, Katie Meade Foskey, Patricia Meade and Nolan Meade, three great grandchildren Jameson and Dean Meade and Johnny Foskey, and a nephew. She was predeceased by her daughter Cathie Meade-Clark, a grandson Ryan Patrick Meade, and a brother Frederick Lockhart. The family would like to thank Shirley’s caregiver Harriet Shorey for her loving care.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
