Walter G. Broadhurst age 82 of Stratford entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2017 in his home. He is survived by his wife Louise, son Harold and his wife Kathleen of Charles Town, WV, daughter Kimberly Hostetter and her husband Sherman of Beaver, PA, son Ronald Ford and his wife Sue of North Andover, MA and daughter Joan Lucas of Fairfield, 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was the only son of the late Helen V.A. Broadhurst. Walter spent 45 Years in the radio broadcasting business beginning as a radio announcer and then moving into sales and management. In recent years he was employed in the security business doing executive protection at Pitney Bowes World Headquarters in Stamford and lobby control at Norwalk Hospital. Walter was active in numerous civic and charitable organizations during his career including The Salvation Army, Red Cross, Easter Seal Society, and was a past president of the Beaver Falls, PA Rotary Club. He was very active in Little Theatre having appeared in numerous amateur stage productions. More recently Walt became active in the Stratford Senior Center, participating in the local Chapter of AARP of which he was until recently Vice President and a Board Member. He was an active member of the Stratford Senior Men’s Club and participated in their Pinochle competition. Once fully retired his favorite past time was reading and would go through as many as two books a week. Walter was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a native of Stamford, a graduate of Stamford High School Class of 1951, and an avid Yankee Fan all his life. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will be private. Friends may call Thursday 4-7pm.
