To Sue, Linda, Janet and Bill,
I have some wonderful memories of us as children playing together in the cul de sac of your Bridgeport home, our dads smoking a cigarette or two discussing upcoming performances at the "Playhouse." As an adult, your dad attended many of our family gatherings, telling clever stories and always bringing a smile to our faces. My uncle Pete would look forward to their good competitive games of chess, and most recently, my husband, Mike, filled the seat where your dad left off. Of course, it will never be the same. I know each game will bring back good memories, though, and conversation of "Uncle Billie" and all the terms and strategies that were played. I also loved to hear all about those Galaxy Diner breakfasts on Tuesdays mornings at 10:00 AM. I'll always remember the newsy stories from the Galaxy that my dad would share with me after one of those breakfasts. The last time I got to see your dad was at the Galaxy. He was fit and trim and we shared a morning meal together. I know my dad will miss him dearly. His friend for 70 years. What a treasure and blessing to have had a friend for such a long time through all of life's ups and downs. I will always admire their friendship and will always remember your dad, not just as a good friend of my own dad's, but as an extended member of our family. My thoughts and prayers go with you at this time of loss. God bless you all. God bless Bill. May he rest now in peace. Amen.
