Albert B. "Red" Stefanski, Sr.


Albert B. "Red" Stefanski, Sr., 71, of Trumbull, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in his home.  He was born June 14, 1937, in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Bernard and Josephine Stefanski. Albert worked at his father's bakery in Derby.  He worked for Barnes Engineering in the 60's as a missile tracker.  He also operated a family-owned seasonal business, Coles Pond Casino, in Walden, VT, in the early 70's.  His last employment was with Itek Corp. as an Optical Engineer for a number of years before retiring.  Albert "Red" was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a PFC in the U.S. Army, and continued with the reserves.  Additionally, he was a life-time member of the Chelmsford Elks in Chelmsford, MA. His passions consisted of taking care of his beloved dog of 12 years, Minnie, and spending time with his fellow brothers of the Chelmsford Elks Club and Polish-American Club in Bridgeport, reading various newspapers, and visiting his children. He is survived by his two children, Patricia Anne Stefanski of Merrimack, NH, and Albert B. Stefanski, Jr., of Chelmsford, MA, and 3 grandchildren, his former wife, Cecile (Stefanski) Nystrom, his brother, Robert, and his wife Cathy Stefanski, of Derby, two nieces, Laura Tarini and husband Timothy of Shelton, and Karen Ducharme and husband Randall of Attleboro, MA; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A gathering will be held, Friday, February, 6, 2009, from 11am to 12 pm., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
