Obituary

Albert Stoffan, age 100 of Trumbull, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital.  Al was born on March 5, 1913 in Harwood, PA . He was the beloved husband of Irene Leska Stoffan for 65 years. Al and Irene were married at St. Patrick Church in Bridgeport and resided in Easton for 58 years. He attended Harding High School and worked as a machinist and technician at General Electric, Singer Sewing Machine Company, and Bunker Ramo.
Al and his wife enjoyed traveling. They drove across the country four times.  Al's favorite vacation area was Florida, where they had honeymooned.  Al always said that his wife was the most important person in his life.  A quiet person, Al enjoyed the holidays especially spending Easter and Thanksgiving at his nephew Sam and Chris' home. His hobbies included: reading, carpentry and electronics; his favorite dessert was cheesecake; his favorite car an Oldsmobile. He was active as a young man at the YMCA with sports including gymnastics and playing "horse." To him, his greatest accomplishment was turning 100 last March. Al was predeceased by his sister, the late Ann Alesevich. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two nephews, Sam Alesevich and his wife Christine, and Richard Alesevich and his wife Carol. Also, grandnieces and nephews Christopher and Elizabeth Alesevich, Joanne Bell, Steven Alesevich, Janet Howard and four great grandnieces and nephews. Albert's family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph's Manor 2nd Floor for the compassionate care he received. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull with the Reverend Linda J. Kraft officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 4 - 6pm and Tuesday 9:30 - 10:30am at the funeral home.
