Anani Polchowski, age 90, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Mary Byrnes Polchowski, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in St. Vincent's Medical Center. A lifelong Bridgeport resident, Mr. Polchowski was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II. He retired after 37 years of service with the Bridgeport Fire Department and was a member of the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Nancy Shippe, a grandson John Shippe Jr. and a brother Andrew Polchowski. Survivors include three devoted children, Thomas A. Polchowski and Patricia Layda, both of Newtown and Kathleen Seaman of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, eight grandchildren, Gregory and Christopher Layda, Thomas, John and Christie Polchowski and Robert, Rebecca and Mary Seaman; also five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., directly in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call Friday, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
