Andre (Henry) Freitas, age 96 of Greenacres, Florida, formally of Stratford (Lordship) passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012.  Mr. Freitas, a veteran of World War II, served in Italy, France and Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart during combat.  He was a Chief Warrant Officer and retired from the Army Reserves after 25 years of service. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Freitas and his brother Roland owned and operated Freitas Bros. Firestone in Bridgeport. In addition to his wife Mary Isaia Freitas, Mr. Freitas leaves behind a son James Freitas and his wife Jeannie of Stuart Florida, a daughter JoAnn Mendillo and her husband Frank of Guilford, a granddaughter Jamie Mendillo of Milford and grandson Justin Freitas of Park City, Utah.  He is also survived by a sister, Sarah Pavelko and sister-in-law Virginia Freitas, both in Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Freitas was predeceased by his first wife Gunvor Wendle Freitas and brothers Armand, Gardner, Anthony (Doc), Roland, Lionel and a sister Theresa Machado. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
