IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony Randolph
Edwards
February 20, 1956 – February 15, 2026
Anthony Randolph Edwards entered eternal rest, five days before his 70th birthday, on February 15, 2026. Anthony a.k.a. Randy was the youngest child of Annie Mae Edwards and Jasper Edwards Sr. Born in New Haven, CT on February 20, 1956, Randy became the 12th addition to the Edwards family.
Randy enjoyed playing chess and checker tournaments with his brothers. After graduating Richard C. Lee High School, Randy moved to Richmond, California. Over the years he worked as an Armed Security Guard and pursued crafting his music during his free time.
Known for his strong talent, Randy played multiple instruments and composed signature pieces. As a self-taught musician, Randy learned to compose music, eventually introducing his unique style to the world. This creative energy enabled his music to be chosen for use by recording artists and two motion pictures.
Randy was playful, kindhearted, full of energy, and most importantly serious about his music. He left memorable impressions on everyone who crossed paths with him. His smile was comforting and his presence was engaging.
He is survived by daughter Nitajsha Edwards and brothers Charlie Edwards, Larry Cannon Edwards, and Salim Saafir a.k.a. Jesse.
He was predeceased by siblings Lillian T. Howard, Annie Faye Edwards, Jasper Edwards Jr., Gladys Edwards, Susan Stuckey, Serena M. Spruill, Leonard Paul Edwards, and Horace Ray Edwards a.k.a. Buddy; as well as nephews Brian K. Howard and Lee Stuckey Jr. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members including siblings Benjamin, Dawn, and David Knight.
Randy will be sorely missed and remembered for his vibrant, musical spirit, playful nature, and astounding resilience to life's challenges.
A Memorial and Repast service will be held on March 14, 2026, from 2pm-7pm: Grand Events, 121 Grand Avenue New Haven, CT 06513 (Please use Atwater Street entrance)
