Antonia M. Iacurci Scalzi, age 90 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Dominick R. Scalzi, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family. Antonia was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Leonard and Nancy LaCastro Iacurci, after a brief move to Philadelphia she returned to Bridgeport, and was a longtime resident. She was a retired teletype operator for Western Union and General Electric. Antonia was an avid bingo player, enjoyed knitting, cooking, and baking, known especially for her apple pies. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband include her children; Linda Barker and husband Thomas of Stratford, Deborah Stanger and husband Randy of Pittsburgh, PA, and Frederick Scalzi and wife Diana of Naugatuck, a brother Dominick Iacurci of Bridgeport, her loving grandchildren; Amy Carlozzi and husband James, Allison Barker-Ford and husband Dave, Laura Stanger, Randy Stanger Jr. and wife Sarah, Karla Stanger, Rebecca and Anthony Scalzi, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, Funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30a.m., from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 10:00a.m., in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30a.m., in the funeral home.
