Arthur G. Burke, formerly of Trumbull, died peacefully on August 15, 2014 at Masonic Health Center Hospice in Wallingford, CT. He joins his wife, Maddie who predeceased him in August of 2005. He was born in New York City, March 28, 1921. Arthur enjoyed a lifetime of following his bliss as an artist, working as a professional in the field of interior design for 40 years, and as a member of The Silvermine Guild of Artists in New Canaan and the Westport Arts Center. Arthur's work was shown in many galleries throughout Connecticut, NYC, Provincetown, MA and Nantucket. Inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell, Arthur became well known as a creator of "Kinetic Assemblage" or the art of gathering found objects into a theme and assembling them into a framed box with moveable parts. He called himself, a "Boxist". His twin daughters, Geraldine Burke of West Hartford and Denny Burke of Wallingford feel blessed by the close bond they developed with their dad, especially after their mom passed. Arthur will be missed deeply by his daughters; Denny's spouse Nancy Davis; the Burke, Ostrowski and Allard families; his cadre of "Boxists" friends; and many longtime friends. Denny and Geraldine are grateful to the entire Masonic Ashlar Village community of Wallingford for providing their dad with the wholesome environment in which he flourished over the past four years. Many thanks for the special friendships that were formed with the staff and residents. Friends may greet the family Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. The family will have a private ceremony of departure. In lieu of flowers Arthur has requested that contributions be made to Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06429. To send online condolences please visit www.redgatehennessy.com
