Audrey “Chris” McGinnis Lifrieri, age 93 died peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026 in Trumbull, CT. Prior to living in Trumbull, Audrey raised her family and resided in Mamaroneck, NY for more than forty years. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Lifrieri. Born in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Catherine McCurry McGinnis. Audrey is survived by her loving son, Glenn Lifrieri and his wife Annette of Trumbull, and her cherished grandchildren Jamie, Matthew, Brian and Christopher whom she loved spending time with. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law and many dear nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to her husband, Audrey was pre-deceased by her son, Paul J. Lifrieri and her brother, Joseph B. McGinnis.
Audrey was a Registered Nurse and she worked at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY, and later served for many years as the school nurse at Chatsworth Avenue School in Larchmont, NY. Her caring nature and dedication to others have always been at the heart of who she is. Audrey was the consummate caregiver, always very supportive of friends and family, and quick to offer kindness, help and encouragement. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great sport who easily went along with lots of joking and teasing on the part of her family. Audrey enjoyed many simple pleasures, including reading, relaxing at the beach, watching NY Yankees baseball, and cooking delicious Italian meals for her family. She enjoyed pitching baseballs to her sons when they were young and was always there to cheer from the sidelines at their games. She also cherished the many years and happy times that she and her family spent at their house in Montauk, NY. She decorated it with much pride and enjoyment and enthusiastically welcomed family and friends for visits.
Audrey’s family is grateful for the care and compassion that she received from the staff while she was in assisted living at Bridges by EPOCH in Trumbull.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 16 from 4:00 to 7:30pm at the Redgate Hennessy Funeral Home on Main Street and Gorham Place in Trumbull, CT, with a funeral service to be held on Friday, July 17 at 12:00pm (Noon) at Redgate Hennessy. Final interment will be private.
