Barbara Laufer Garrick, a resident of Trumbull and communicant of St. Theresa Church since 1949 died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Maefair Health Care Center. Mrs. Garrick was born August 10, 1926 in Syracuse, NY only child of Emil Joseph and Gertrude Mara Laufer. She was married to Charles Peter Garrick November 3, 1951. He died March 22, 1983. She was a graduate of the Academy of Mary of the Springs Columbus, OH and the College of St. Mary of the Springs (now Ohio Dominican College). Mrs. Garrick's entire career was spent at St. Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport where she received training as a medical technologist. She was Program Director and taught at St. Vincent's School of Medical Technology over 25 years and was editor of three medical technology review textbooks. Prior to her retirement in 1985, she was Administrative Director of the Clinical laboratory. She was a Third Order Dominican, a member of Chapter V, PEO Sisterhood, and Kappa Gamma Pi, National Catholic Honorary Society. Mrs. Garrick is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Trudi and Raymond Kasparek with whom she resided of Trumbull, a son Peter Laufer Garrick of Alabama, six grandchildren, Kevin Laufer Garrick, Heather Masters and her husband Robert, Melanie Kasparek and her fiancé Michael Rainville, Megan Kasparek, Jakob and Mara Garrick, and a great granddaughter Madison Garrick. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. There will be no calling hours.
