Bernice J. Saunders, age 85 formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital, Fairfield. She was the beloved wife of the late Lewis B. Saunders (Bridgeport Health Department). Bernice was born on the Garden River Reservation in Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Charles and Ellen Belleau Barry. She spent most of her life in Bridgeport and enjoyed 40 years on Harmony Street. Bernice was a waitress for Dunkin' Donuts in the Trumbull Mall, where she loved her customers and especially the coffee and had formerly worked for the China Inn, Congress Street, Bridgeport. Survivors include her devoted daughters; Ellen Bump and husband John of Plymouth, MA and Rowena M. White of Ansonia, four grandchildren; Rowena I. White, Bethany S. White, Brittney K. White-Hickey and husband John, and Britten E. Bump, and  two great grandchildren; Kaya Lee Hickey and Shyana S. Milardo. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
