Betty L. Atkinson age 85 of Bridgeport passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in Bridgeport she was the daughter of the late Charles Flemming and Alberta M. Jackson. Betty retired from Sikorsky Aircraft and was also a Nurse's Aide and companion. She was a mentor at Roosevelt School and the Foster Grandparent Program. She is survived by her loving daughters, Alberta Lima and her husband Joseph, Elizabeth Mojica, Kemberlee Twyne, and Susan Bailey, sister Florence Jowers, 13 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 27 great- great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 24th at 10:00am in Messiah Baptist Church, 210 Congress Street, Bridgeport. Interment will be private.
