Obituary

C. Lee Hanson, age 85 of Easton, beloved husband of Eunice Stylos Hanson, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Meadow Ridge health Center, Redding, CT. Lee was born in Weston, Vermont, son of the late Rev. Captain Chester and Helen Whitehouse Hanson. He is survived by his wife Eunice Hanson of Easton, his daughter Kathryn Barrere, granddaughters Alexandra and Nichole Barrere of Southbury CT, a special niece COL (Ret.) Halima Tiffany of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews.  Lee was predeceased by his siblings, brother Jerry Hanson of Texas and sisters Aronda Lynch and Gloria Riddle both of Massachusetts. On September 11, 2001 (9/11), Lee lost his beloved son Peter Burton Hanson, daughter-in-law Sue Kim Hanson, and granddaughter Christine Lee Hanson, who were passengers on United Airlines Flight 175.  Lee loved his country and proudly served in the United States Army in Germany from 1955 to 1957 and remained in the Army Reserves until 1967.  Lee received his bachelor's degree in business from Northeastern University and an MBA from Boston University.  He began his career in international finance at General Electric, where he was manager of finance for their Singapore facility. After leaving GE, he maintained his friendships by getting together weekly with the "GE Lunch Bunch." Lee continued in finance with Smith Industries, London, England, until his retirement in 1999. He was a man of strong faith, love of family, friends and country. Lee was a past deacon of the Congregational Church of Easton, treasurer, and a creator of the Church's Memorial Garden. His community service involved the Easton Exchange Club as a member, past president and treasurer. He was a member of the Easton Board of Finance serving the town for twenty-five years. Lee and his wife have given their time traveling to Washington, D.C., Alexandria, VA, and Guantanamo Bay in an effort to seek justice for the victims of 9/11 by bringing the perpetrators to trial. Lee's family will receive friends and relatives Monday, November 19, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in the Congregational Church of Easton, 336 Westport Road, Easton, CT 06612, with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev.
