Obituary

Campbell G. (Campy) Williams, age 73 of Shelton, made the spiritual journey to a higher level on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. His devoted wife Judy Sedelnik Williams and his family were by his side before, during, and after his transition.  Campy was made aware three years ago that he had a very rare and incurable form of cancer. He faced this with understanding and handled it in his usual dignified manner realizing that eventually he would be taken from this life.  Campy was born May 8, 1938 in Bridgeport to Catherine and William W. Williams. He shared his childhood with his two brothers, William and Gary Williams. Campy was a master craftsman when it came to woodworking and carpentry. He enjoyed making improvements on the house and working in the garden and landscaping.  One of his greatest achievements was maintaining his sobriety. He and his wife Judy shared this achievement together and supported each other. They had a loving relationship and always displayed a sense of humor by baiting each other with little jokes. One of his greatest joys was faithfully visiting his grandchildren, Heather, Nicole and Kurt II and bringing doughnuts to their house every Sunday and spending quality time with them even as his health was failing. He also participated in Grandparent's day at the Shelton Elementary School where he spent time interacting with and observing their classroom activities. Campy was married twice. He was a man of few words and didn't like getting things mixed up so both of his wives were named Judy!  He and Judy had many pets and he was OK with that as long as he didn't have to see the Vet bills! Campy said he didn't want the cats jumping on him but when they snuggled with him in the den he really liked that kitty love. When he lost his keys he told Judy the cats stole them! Over the years Campy resided in Bridgeport, Trumbull, Derby, and Shelton. He was employed by the Town of Trumbull, Waste Management of Norwalk, The CT Waste Transfer, and also tended bar at Otto's in Shelton. He was a Lifetime Member of the Brotherhood of Elks Club for 45 years.  Campy always had an inviting smile and was generous to others. He was a true gentleman and displayed this to his family and friends.  He is survived by his beloved wife Judy Williams of Shelton, his two stepsons, Kurt J. Keith of Shelton and wife Leah, and Jerry Logan and wife Roseanna. His grandchildren, Heather, Nicole, and Kurt II Keith, children of Kurt Keith. Jason and wife Nicole and Matthew Logan, children of Jerry Logan, and a great-grandson, Silas Logan. His very special mother-in-law, Rusty Sedelnik and dearly loved sister-in-law, Jerilyn Sedelnik.  He is also survived by his former wife Judy Martin and their two sons, Scott C. Williams and wife Kathleen, and Gary O. Williams and wife Ronda. His grandchildren, Tyler and Faith, children of Scott Williams, Nicholas, Courtney, Gary, and Kaitlynn, children of Gary Williams.  Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Campy's life. The service will be held Wednesday, October 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, corner of Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull. Prayer Services will be conducted at 7:30 PM by Ron and Connie Spataro, cousins of Campy's wife, Judy Williams. Campy's stepson Kurt J. Keith will deliver the Eulogy. To send online condolences please visit www.redgatehennessy.com. Donations can be made in the name of Campy Williams to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.  The family would like to extend special thanks to the Office of Dr. Jeffrey A. Orell of Derby, at the New Cancer Wing at Griffin Hospital, the staff at Griffin Hospital, and the CT Hospice.  Campy conducted his life as a loving person who was loved back by those who knew him. He was fortunate to live his life with a loving family and accepted the end of his life here on earth with faith, grace, and dignity, and the knowledge that he would be reunited with everyone. He was loved by everyone and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
