Carol Ann Dresser, age 65, a long-time resident of Plymouth, CT, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2016, at Bristol Hospital in Bristol, CT, after a long and very private battle with cancer. Carol was born on December 8, 1950, in Schenectady, NY. She was the daughter of the late George T. and Marian Francis Pratt Dresser. Carol graduated from Trumbull High School in Trumbull, CT, in 1968, where she was voted "Most Popular" and "Most Likely to Succeed" in her class. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in 1972, and went on to earn a Masters of Social Work degree from UCONN in 1974. Carol was hired by the Bristol Board of Education and served for thirty-five years as a school social worker. Her longest assignment was at Bristol Eastern High, where she helped countless students deal with their problems and issues. Carol was a lover of furry and feathery creatures, both domestic and wild. She loved her happy and tranquil places, such as her house by the lake and her camper in Otis, MA. Carol was happiest enjoying the outdoors with her many dear friends. She was known for her long "Sunday" rides whenever there was no school. Carol is survived by her brother, Dr. John D. Dresser and his wife, Virginia, of Hanover, NH, as well as two nieces, Sarah E. Dresser, of Etna, NH, and Laura A. Dresser, of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by cousins Frank P. Myers and his wife Diane of Colonie, NY, and Donald A. Myers and his wife Bonnie of Latham, NY. A memorial service to honor Carol's life will be held on December 3, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Long Hill Methodist Church in Trumbull, CT. Another celebration of Carol's life will be held at the Lucky Cup Restaurant in Terryville, CT on the evening of December 3 at 7:00pm. Memorial contributions can be made in Carol's memory to her favorite charities, which include the Animal Rescue Foundation, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and the ASPCA.
