Carol M. Ritchie, age 96 of Trumbull, previously of Lake Forest, Bridgeport, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning, November 23, 2009.  Born on June 14, 1913, she was raised in New York City. Carol was the widow of Herbert RyLance Ritchie, also of Bridgeport.  She retired from the Bridgeport Public School system at the age of 88, and spent her retirement years working as a volunteer bookkeeper for the Lake Forest Association and tending to her gardens. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and sharing her life with them. She leaves, to cherish her memory a son Dr. James J. Ritchie and his wife Theresa, and three daughters: Patricia L. Ritchie, Priscilla A. Virelli and her husband Louis, and Carol Lynn Mansi, and her husband Gary.  In addition, she leaves behind nine grandchildren and their spouses:  Tracy J. Russek, Jeffrey R. Russek and his wife Tammy, Lee Carol Passios and her husband, John, Troy C. Russek, Jason Virelli and his wife Traci, Christian Virelli and his wife Lori, Jill VanBuerden and her husband Kevin, Kate Merrill and her husband Jonathan and Tyler Mansi.  In addition to twelve great grandchildren, Carol leaves a niece Theresa Applegate of Brick, NJ.  She was predeceased by her son Lance Ritchie, and sisters, Elizabeth, Marion and Edna.   Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church, 5958 Main St., Trumbull, CT, with the Rev. Elsa Worth, pastor, officiating.   Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
