Carole Christy Surina age 59 a lifelong Bridgeport resident died surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Surina and daughter of the late Robert J. and Jane Swiderski Christy. Carole was a graduate of Sacred Heart Class of 1964, Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall Class of 1968, Sacred Heart University Class of 1972 and received a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport.  She was a teacher at Lauralton Hall 1972-1979 and at Notre Dame Catholic High School of Fairfield from 1979 to the present. She was also currently Chairperson of the English and Social Studies Department. Carole had a passion for books, teaching, gardening and flowers. She loved the beach, especially Cape Cod, and the Boston Red Sox. In addition to her husband she is survived by her loving daughter Jessica Surina Marino and her husband Joseph of Stratford, sister Patricia Philipp and her husband Carl, brother Robert J. Christy Jr., mother-in-law Mary Surina, all of Bridgeport, brother-in-law Thomas Surina of Derby, nephews and nieces Kevin Philipp and his wife Camila and their daughter Juliet, Matthew Philipp, Jane Philipp, Rachel Christy, cousins Mary Ellen Buswell and Leslie (Buzzy) Buswell. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her infant brother Kevin Christy and father-in-law Joseph Surina. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 9:30am meeting directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
