Catherine Fitzgibbons Auth, a native of Albany, NY passed into eternal life at age 84 on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in her home in Bridgeport. She was the beloved wife of Drew Auth. She was a graduate of the college of St. Rose in Albany, NY and majored in music. In her junior year she was sent by her college to attend The Music Educator's National Conference at St. Louis, Missouri. She taught music in the Troy public school system and then taught first grade in the Albany public school system. She was a member of the Schenectady Light Opera Company and a member of the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization.) She earned her Masters Degree at Oneonta State Teachers College and took a course in how to teach children with learning disabilities. In 1955 she moved with her husband Drew Auth to Bridgeport Connecticut and remained there for the rest of her life. While there, she taught first grade at St. Theresa's school in Monroe for one year. Later she joined the Trumbull Community Chorus. She joined the Mercy Learning Center, the purpose of which is to teach adults how to read. She joined the Newtown Singers and composed a song in 4 part harmony for the State Song Contest. She organized a teen girls choir at Our Lady of Good Council Church and was director of Colby Cathedral High School Chorus. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, and sang in the choir. In the year 2000 she published her auto-biography. Survivors in addition to her husband Drew include her daughters, Marian J. Kwolek and her husband Richard of Monroe, NY and Susan Soper and her husband David of Belfast, ME, her son Edward A. Auth of Bridgeport, grandchildren, Christopher Kwolek, Lloyd, George, and Kelly Killam and her great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00am meeting directly in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 100 St. John Drive, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
