Charles F. (Rick) Barnes Jr., age 64 of Monroe, beloved husband of Betty Barnes, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born in Troy, NY, son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Barbara Barnes, he was raised in Trumbull, and lived in Monroe for many years. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a member of the American Legion Post 141. Rick was an iron worker with Local 424, a member of the Professional Golfer's Association of America, a professional golfer, and an avid Red Sox fan. Survivors in addition to his wife Betty, include his loving daughters; Aimee Haray and husband Brian of Stratford, Kelley DeMasi and husband Alfonso of Brookfield, Lisa Connor and husband Robert, and Laura Reilly and husband Corey of Stratford; three brothers; Peter Barnes and wife Carol of Newtown, Donald Barnes and wife Joann of Florida, Steven Barnes and wife Kathy of North Carolina; a sister Sue Coyne and husband Howie of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Kyle and Caitlyn Haray, Joseph and Gianna DeMasi, Sean, Paige, and Erin Connor, and Morgan and Michael Reilly; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Jeffrey Barnes. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00am in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull with the Rev. Elizabeth H. Schrader, Pastor of Long Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery.
