Christopher Rene Benitez, 43, passed away on February 11, 2026, in New Haven, Connecticut. Born on January 6, 1983, in Connecticut, he was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport. Chris lived a life rooted in dedication to his family, his work, and the passions that brought him joy.
Chris was the eldest of three brothers and a sister, the first among them to graduate from Platt Technical High School in Milford. There, he pursued a trade in Electronics, a field that would become both his profession and lifelong career. In 2005, he began working at Sonitek in Milford, where he remained for two decades. His commitment to his craft and loyalty to his workplace were hallmarks of his professional life.
Beyond his career, Chris was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He found great joy in spending time with those closest to him. Whether it was sharing laughter with his brothers Jeff and Gary Benitez and his sister Victoria Benitez or creating cherished memories with his nieces Gabriela and Savannah and nephew Noah Benitez, Chris embraced every moment with warmth and humor. He was a loving son to Rene and Diane Benitez and a devoted fiancé to Christina Fiore.
Chris’s interests reflected his vibrant personality. He was an avid gamer who enjoyed video games as well as tabletop favorites like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. He also loved outdoor yard games such as Can Jam and Cornhole, activities that often brought friends and family together for fun-filled afternoons. A passionate San Francisco 49ers fan, he celebrated each game with enthusiasm. He also held a love for boxing; Chris appreciated both the discipline of the sport and its intensity.
He is remembered not only for the hobbies he loved but for the way he made others feel respected, valued, and always welcome. His sisters-in-law Yazmin and Daisy Benitez were part of the extended circle of love that surrounded him throughout his life.
Chris now joins beloved family members who passed before him: his grandparents, Frank and Bonnie Bereza, Gaspar “Indio” and Iraida Ortega; and his uncles, Danny Bereza and Gaspar “Gank” Benitez.
As we reflect on Chris’s life, a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and love, we hold close the memories that continue to inspire us. His legacy lives on in every game played around a table or backyard lawn, every shared joke between siblings, every quiet moment of remembrance.
May Christopher Rene Benitez’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
