Donald Joseph Sawyers age 74 a resident of St. Joseph's Manor, Trumbull and formerly 3030 Park, Bridgeport died Friday, July 20, 2007 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born July 23, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY he was raised in Malverne, NY. Donald retired after over forty years of service with the Town of Hempstead Water Department. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan especially baseball and the New York Yankees. He was the beloved brother of Joseph Sawyers and his wife Carol of Greenport, L.I., Janet D'Amico of Hilton Head, S.C. and Gail Colby of Monroe, and the cherished uncle of Lisa and Joe Monachino, Tara and Matthew Carloni, Joseph and Andrea Sawyers, Kenneth and Shea Sawyers, David and Donna D'Amico, Melissa Canalichio, Matthew and Jill D'Amico and his great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00am directly in St. Stephen Church Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
