Obituary

Dorothy M. Pancoast, 80, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Charles H. Pancoast for 58 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15. Dorothy was born April 19, 1931 in the small community of New Sharon, NJ to Frank and Mae Barnett.  Having lost both parents during her childhood, she was raised by her sister Ruth Exley and her husband, Bill. After marriage, she spent over 2 years in Europe where Charles served in the Air Force. Returning to the USA she raised four children and was active in her their lives. Dorothy had many organizational and hand craft skills and was an enthusiastic church member, primarily at Long Hill United Methodist Church in Trumbull. Over the years, she volunteered in many ways particularly at St. Vincent's Hospital and the Jane Ryan School Library. She also worked for 10 years in administration services with SNET.  Dorothy was a 50 yr. survivor of breast cancer for which her family is most grateful and despite lifelong bouts with some acute and chronic illnesses, she remained upbeat and active throughout most of her life. She would gladly start conversations with complete strangers, in hopes of creating a connection with someone else in her circle of friends. She always enjoyed being around younger people and more recently kept up with the lives of friends and family through Facebook. In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her daughter Patti Early and her husband, Kevin of Monroe; son Richard and his wife Kathy of Stratford, son Bruce and his wife, Paula of Monroe, and son Scott and his wife, Debi of Milford.  Mom-mom will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Tom and Katie Early and Ryan, Sara, Jody and Kenny Pancoast as well as a number of nieces and nephews.  Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00am in United Methodist Church of Monroe 515 Cutlers Farm Rd, Monore. Interment will be private. Friends may greet her family Friday 4-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611 or United Methodist Church of Monroe.
