Obituary

Edward Angelo (Ed) Pipkin, age 26, of Lake Forest, Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Edward was born in Bridgeport, to Scarlett Moye Pipkin and the late George E. Pipkin, Jr. former director of Hall Neighborhood House. Edward was very talented, fun-loving, well spoken and passionate about the performing arts. During his years through school he was repeatedly acclaimed as a leader in various venues. Ed graduated from Fairfield Country Day School and Central High School. He attended the Masters School - Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Pa., majoring in Theater Arts, where he received a four year Presidential Scholarship. He was also a Fairfield Rotary Club Scholarship Recipient in 2000. Ed was currently attending Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport and he was a candidate for the 2008-2009 Public Allies Apprenticeship Program for nonprofit and civic agencies. He worked touring and exploring the genre of performing arts. Previously he was in the touring companies of: AIDA, RENT, CLIFFORD-Live and he was an understudy at the Goodspeed Opera House as Gabriel in Shenandoah. His favorite roles included: leading player in Pippin, Guys and Dolls, Big Daddy, Sweet Charity, Jo/Jesus Godspell, Ballader (Assassin). Edward was Mr. Dance Educator of America (Connecticut) hails from the D'Valda & Sirico Dance Company, Fairfield. He was a member of Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) and Actor's Equity Assoc. He was a triple-threat in the Arts. Ed was also an avid reader, swimmer, party and wine enthusiast and a Buddhist mediator. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Bridgeport where he was a Lector. He is survived by his mother, Scarlett M. Pipkin; and his brother, George E. Pipkin III of Bridgeport; many aunts, grand aunts, uncle, cousins; three godmothers and family friends. Ed grew up and served as an Acolytes at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal, Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 768 Fairfield Ave. (Cr. Park & Fairfield Ave.) The viewing will be at 11 a.m. Service is scheduled for 12 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Geoffrey Hahneman officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the George E. Pipkin Jr. Scholarship Fund, Bridgeport Area Foundation, 211 State Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604. Final services will be in Farmville, NC, at the Moye's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
