Edward J Reck, 88, of Fairfield and Woodstock CT, passed away on August 4, 2106 at The Saybrook at Haddam, Haddam, CT from natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 9th at 12:15p.m., meeting directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, CT. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Bronson Rd, Fairfield, CT. Edward was born on March 28, 1928 in Bridgeport CT. Edward was a resident of Fairfield for 42 years before moving to Woodstock Ct in 1999, were he resided until his recent move to The Saybrook at Haddam. Edward worked for the Dictaphone Corporation for 42 years. He was an avid golfer and upon retirement, went to work part time in the pro shop at the Country Club of Fairfield. Upon moving to Woodstock, Ed became a volunteer at the Woodstock Town Hall where he could be found helping out in various Town departments. He was a daily mass attendant at Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret, CT and would help open the church each morning. After mass, you could always find him across the street at the Vanilla Bean Cafe with his morning 'coffee gang' having a cup of tea and toast. Ed is survived by his son, James, his wife Stacy and their sons Christopher and Jake, his daughter Susan McElhone, her husband Vincent and their sons John and Brendan, a sister, Catherine Ross and her children, David and Amy Ross and a nephew, Alan Reck. Ed was predeceased by his wife Maria Colina Reck and his brother, George Reck. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to all those that have had a part of our Fathers care over the past 11 months. The doctors and nurses at Day Kimball Hospital, the exceptional staff at Essex Meadows, Essex, everyone at The Saybrook at Haddam, the professional staff at Excella Health Care and Vitas Hospice. We are eternally grateful for your understanding, compassion and care. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Shane Ridge and Dr Edward Tucker for their understanding, care and exceptional treatment of our father since becoming a patient. We are eternally grateful to each and everyone involved in the care of our father. A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, August 11th at 10:00a.m., in Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT.
