Eileen R. McGrath, formerly of Shelton and Trumbull, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Marshall Lane Manor in Derby after a long illness. Born in Bridgeport to Maurice and Florence McGrath, Eileen was educated in the Bridgeport public schools and Bridgeport University/Paier College of Art. Eileen was a talented artist, whose professional career spanned decades in marketing and advertising, including positions at Sikorski and Emhart/Black and Decker, from which she retired in the 1980's. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Muriel Desmond. She leaves her sister Dee Maggiori, of Trumbull, two nieces, a grandniece, her longtime friend Mildred Driznus, and several cousins and many friends. Throughout her life Eileen was a traveler, amateur musician and rescuer of and dedicated friend to animals, especially dogs. In retirement, Eileen enjoyed oil painting, traveling in her beloved van with her "Road Runner" buddies and her dog, swimming at the YMCA in Milford, and fine cuisine and the arts with friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 13, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Avenue, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull.
