Elizabeth B. Cormany, age 62 of Stamford, beloved wife of Timothy K. Cormany, died on Friday, July 23, 2010, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Betsy was born in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Margaret Smith Beck and C. Victor Beck Jr. She graduated from St. Ursuline Academy in Toledo in 1965 and St. Mary's College in 1969. Shortly thereafter she married her husband, Tim, in Toledo. Betsy had a terrific career in financial services both in banking and selling financial software. She retired in 1997. While she was still working, Betsy volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels of Stamford/Darien, then served on their board and was President for several years. She was a member of the Greenwich Country Club for over 30 years and of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church. Betsy was a fantastic cook, loved to travel-especially out west where she could stalk rainbow trout, and built a strong passion for golf winning several team events. In addition to her husband, Tim, Betsy is survived by two brothers, C. Victor Beck III and his wife Judy of Toledo and their four children, Deborah, C.V Beck IV, Joseph and Christine, and Robert Beck and his wife Marge of Maui, Hawaii; by her two brothers-in law, Paul and Tom Cormany of Los Angeles; and 13 grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a tremendous circle of friends from college, work and the club. A Memorial Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 27, at 10:00am at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church 914 Newfield Avenue with a reception immediately following at the Greenwich Country Club, 48 Doubling Rd., Greenwich. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory and honor of Elizabeth B. Cormany can be made to the charity of one's choice.
