Emily Simokat Chase of Monroe, CT passed away on March 5th, 2023 at St. Joseph's Center in Trumbull, CT after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on January 13, 1925 to Henry and Anna Simokat who had emigrated from Germany at the turn of the century in 1909, and is predeceased by four older siblings. She attended Bassick High School, studied voice and the Fine Arts in both Connecticut and New York, was an exceptional vocalist, painter and illustrator, and self-taught pianist.

She met her husband, Allen Chase, at what was once Avco Lycoming in Stratford, CT, and they enjoyed a happy and loving marriage of over forty four years until his passing in 1994. Emily spent her working life as the Monroe, CT Beacon Hill Free Church secretary, choir director, and resident church artist/illustrator, forming and enjoying many rich, enduring personal relationships with congregation members.

Emily leaves behind her daughter, Rebecca Chase Wood, of Monroe, CT, along with her beloved grandchildren, Julian Gingell of Denver, CO, and Ian Gingell of Norwalk, CT, as well as her great grandson, Trevor Chase, of Monroe, CT, and her niece/daughter, Janet Robinson, of New Bern, NC. Her additional family includes Bruce and Cheri Simokat of Houston, TX and Linda Ewing of New Bern, NC as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
