Ernest A. Schneider age 98 of Shelton died Friday, September 18, 2026 at Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. He was the beloved husband of the late Loretta Oliver Schneider. Born in Meriden Connecticut, Ernest was the son of the late Ernest and Dorothy Huskes Schneider. Ernest was a US Naval Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired as a Lieutenant after 26 years of service with the Bridgeport Fire Department. He is survived by his three sons, Richard and his wife Karen, William and his wife Patricia, and Keith and his wife Lori, seven grandchildren Rachel her husband Kyle, Will his wife Cassie, Richard his wife Alison, Elizabeth her husband Bill, Peter, Mikaela her husband Corey and Daniel, 9 great grandchildren, Olivia, Anna, Owen, Ethan, Charlie, Maria, Aiyana, Matthew and a great, great granddaughter, Lizzie. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert. Ernie loved hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping trips in his motor home with his wife Loretta. He was a member of the American Legion for over 70 years along with the Bridgeport Area Retired Firemen. He loved family gatherings on Sundays and enjoyed UConn women’s basketball games with his companion Lucy. Ernie will be remembered by many and loved by all. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM meeting directly in Saint Lawrence Church, Huntington with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
