Obituary

Esther (Evelyn) Ochsner, age 83 of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Evie was born in Glens Falls, NY on May 6, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Bessie Aronson. She moved to Connecticut to attend college and was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport. Evie was married to her beloved husband, the late William H. Ochsner for 46 years. She was a long-time employee at Read's Department Store in the Trumbull Shopping Park. She later worked for the Trumbull Town Recreation Department and taught water aerobics classes at Inwood Condominiums. Evie was a devoted member of Grace Episcopal Church and a dedicated volunteer at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, where she was named Volunteer of the Year in 2000. Evie was full of life and energy and was known for her daily neighborhood walks and weekly swimming at Hillcrest Middle School. She cared deeply for her family and friends and will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Evie is survived by her daughter Annette (Bunny) Chapin of Derby; son William P. Ochsner and his wife Parris of Trumbull; four grandchildren, Todd Chapin and his wife Erica Bial of Boston, MA; Jennifer Giering and her husband George of North Haven; Corrine Ochsner Lieberman and her husband Eben of East Longmeadow, MA; Danielle Ochsner and her fiance' Stephen Brine of Prospect; two great grandsons, Samuel and Jason Giering; and her brothers Lawrence, Samuel and Joel Aronson. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00am in Grace Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Elsa Worth officiating. Interment will be private.
