Obituary

Ethel Susana (Zbytniewski) Sliva, age 92 of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late John J. Sliva, Sr., died on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in Boynton Beach, Florida.  Born in Toledo, Ohio on July 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Paul (Zbytniewski) Bennett and Ethel Violet Bailey (Balog) Zbytniewski of Fairfield. A  former Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the St. Theresa Women's Guild, and Our Lady of Patience Mother's Circle, she was an avid bowler and gardener.  A graduate of Rodger Ludlowe High School, she retired as a bookkeeper at the law firm of Coles, O'Connell, Dolan, & McDonald.  Her family and friends were the center of her life and she leaves cherished memories with each. Survivors, include her loving children:  John (Jay) and Martha Sliva, Jr. of Fairfield, Virginia and William  Fatek of Preston, Thomas and Donna Sliva of Coventry, Michael and Ann Sliva of Monroe, and Susan and Peter Conigliaro of Ansonia; 15 Grandchildren:  Jeffrey (Luanne) Sliva and Jennifer (Colin) Arsenault    of Fairfield, Debra (Sean) Jacobs and John (Eileen) Sliva of Trumbull, Lynn Rhodes and Amy (James) DeSanty of Derby, Jacqueline Sliva of Black Rock, Timothy (Lindsay) Sliva of Wethersfield, Michael P. (Alexandra) Sliva of Cheshire, Bridgette Sliva of Stamford,  Anne Fatek, Danielle Sliva and James Sliva of the  Boston (area) , Katherine (Matthew) Osborne of Gilbertsville, PA,  and Thomas (Shelley) Sliva, Jr. of Cleveland, OH; 19 Great Grandchildren:  Caiden, Landon, Chase Arsenault; Jane, Kiera, Michael, Nyah, Zoey,  Brayden and Vienna Sliva; Caitlyn and Michael Rhodes; Emma DeSanty;  Grace, Jack and Luke Osborne; Caroline, Mackenzie and Andrew Jacobs;  a sister Sally Miller of Georgia  and many  nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by a brother, Leonard (Zbytniewski) Bennett. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9 A.M. DIRECTLY at St. Theresa Church with a Mass of Christian Burial and Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.  Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
