Eugenia "Jean" Salemi, age 93 a long-time resident of Bridgeport, CT, passed away on November 2, 2014 in Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late Louis Salemi of Bridgeport, she is survived by her children Robert Salemi of Silver Spring; Constance Salemi of Bethesda, MD; her grandchildren, John, Elizabeth and Amelia Averitt, her brother George Pappageorge, and many loving cousins. Jean was born on July 1, 1921 in Lowell, MA. She moved to Bridgeport with her late husband Lou in 1947 where she resided until her move to Silver Spring in 2008. Jean passed away peacefully with her children by her side. In her prime, she was a home maker with a passion for baking and cooking much enjoyed by her entire extended family. In 1984, Jean retired from her position as a case worker in the Social Services Department of the State of Connecticut, which recognized her for her outstanding contributions to the process of awarding benefits to poor families. Jean was a long time member of the Rosary Society of St. Peter Church in Bridgeport. She was a lifelong walker who never let the New England weather interfere with her daily treks. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8 at 12 Noon at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
