Floyd H. "Jiggs" Cochran, age 80 a long time resident of Stratford, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 after a long illness. He was a Naval Veteran, serving his country during World War II, and was a ballistics expert retired from Remington Arms in 1985. He was a former trap shooting instructor for Wee Burn Country Club, Darien for 18 years, and was a member of the Connecticut State Trap Shooters Association and the Hall of Fame. Mr. Cochran was a poet, avid bowler, golfer, poker player and always enjoyed competition. Survivors include his wife Mary K. Cochran, currently of Corpus Christi, TX, three daughters and a son, Virginia C. Jansen and husband Richard of Trumbull, Carol A. Nikola and husband Nick of Shelton, Mark H. Cochran of Fairfield, Susan Cascio and husband Mark of Guilford, their mother Beatrice M. Cochran of Fairfield, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, a sister Beulah Powers of Haywood, CA, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Benjamin E. and Viola Jackson Cochran, and a brother Crawford "Pete" Cochran. Funeral services will Saturday at 10:00 am in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, with Pastor Michael Peslak, of the White Oak Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, with full military honors. Friends may call Friday (TODAY) from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
