Frances Cecilia Tracey Walsh, a longtime resident of Easton, CT, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation. She was 86 years old. The daughter of Earl and Anna Davin Tracey, she was born on July 16, 1925 in Nashua, New Hampshire. She attended Nashua schools including Nashua High School. She went on to attend Smith College graduating Summa Cum Laude, received the distinction of Phi Beta Kappa her junior year, was Valedictorian of her class and a member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society. The following year, she received her Master's Degree from the Harvard Medical School in Microbiology. She married James F. Walsh III, M.D. in 1949. From 1948 to 1952 she ran a Viral Research Laboratory for Charles Pfizer in Brooklyn, New York. In 1952 she moved with her husband, an Army Medical Officer, to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. In 1953 they were transferred to the 98th General Army Hospital in Munich, Germany, where they took the opportunity to travel extensively in Western Europe, a hobby they continued to enjoy throughout their years together. Returning to the United States in September of 1954, Mrs. Walsh ran a Control Laboratory for McKesson & Robbins in Fairfield, Connecticut until 1958, when the couple's first child was born. She enjoyed volunteering and served as President of the St. Vincent's Medical Center Auxiliary for several terms, as President of the Connecticut State Medical Association and as Chairman of the St. Vincent's Membership Committee. Her pastimes included the theater, Yale football, entertaining and traveling. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Walsh of Moorpark, California, her son James Walsh of Lewisberry, Pennsylvania and her grandson, Sean Alexander Walsh also of Moorpark, California. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 23rd at 11:00AM at Notre Dame of Easton Connecticut. Interment will be Saturday at 11am in St. Michael's Cemetery , Stratford.
