Francis "Frank" Hannafey, age 94, a longtime resident of Monroe, CT, and Jupiter, FL, peacefully entered his eternal rest in Smyrna, GA, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on December 20, 1931, to Paul and Margaret Hannafey, Frank is survived by his four children and their spouses: Fr. Francis T. Hannafey, S.J. of Philadelphia, PA, Brian P. Hannafey of Smyrna, GA, Karen (Hannafey) Diaz and her husband, Eugene of Acworth, GA, and David J. Hannafey and his wife, Krista, of Jasper, GA. He is also survived by his five beloved grandchildren, Kylie (Hannafey) Caudell and her husband, Dillon, James Hannafey and his wife, Sarah, Regan Hannafey, Kristina Diaz, and Brandon Diaz; as well as his great-granddaughter, Rose Hannafey. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Wanda (Lapinski) Hannafey; his parents; and all six of his brothers and sisters: Paul Hannafey, Charles Hannafey, Edward Hannafey, Aloysius Hannafey, Dennis Hannafey, and Dolores Hannafey. Family will receive friends at Carmichael Funeral Home, in Smyrna, GA, from 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, August 31, 2026, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Mr. Hannafey's son, Fr. Francis T. Hannafey, S.J., at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, in Smyrna, GA. Family will receive friends at Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Directors, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, from 11:00am-1:00pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm, in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either The Alzheimer's Association , or the Wounded Warrior Project.
