Our hero, "Gene" Martin Eugene Hughes, passed on January 6, 2009. Irish son. Naval officer. Marine engineer. Husband. Father. Advisor. Confidant. Best friend. Grandfather. Your soul will walk alongside each of us always. You are in our hearts forever.  He leaves behind him his beloved wife of 50 years, Joan; his cherished daughter, Nancy; 4 honorable sons, Gene, Chris, Mike and Brian; his favorite daughters in law Katrina, Tracy, Lisa and Rebecca and 11 grandchildren that he adored Chris, Victoria, Sam, Curtis, Sean, Tess, Alix, Jett, Ethan, Jayne and Gavin.   Godspeed beautiful man. Until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of His Hand. Funeral services will be held Friday at 8:45am from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 9:30am in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family. Friends may call (TODAY) Thursday 4-8pm at the funeral home.
