George J. Arsenault age 78 of Bridgeport, retired Deputy Chief of the Bridgeport Fire Department and beloved husband of Janet A. Lynch Arsenault, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. George was a lifelong Bridgeport resident son of the late Gustave and Sarah LeBlanc Arsenault. He retired from the fire department after 33 years of service and received The Gold Star, the department's highest honor for saving an individual's life. George was a member of B.A.R.F. and the Lake Forest Association. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Janet include his children; Joseph G. Arsenault and wife Deborah of Meriden and Linda Arsenault Williams and husband Daniel J., III of Stratford, seven grandchildren Autumn Grimaldi (Dan), Shannon Yandall (the late Michael), Brett Arsenault (Shannon), Daniel J. Williams, IV, Kaitlyn Williams, Kara Williams, and Alexa Williams, seven great grandchildren, a brother and sister Clarence Arsenault and wife Denise of Shelton and Maryann Lacko of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Leo, Paul and Ernest Arsenault. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:00a.m., from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 10:00a.m., in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 8p.m., in the funeral home.
