George L. Bertig, age 87, of Anderson, South Carolina, beloved husband of Ann Sajgovic Bertig, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his home. Born in Scranton, PA, he was a Bridgeport resident for 19 years before moving to Anderson 24 years ago. George was a retired painter for Malm Paint Contractors and a member of the Painters' Union Local 1719. In addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, he is survived by a devoted son, Robert G. Bertig Sr. and wife Mary Ann of Huntington, a brother John Bertig and wife Unice of Florida, two grandchildren, Leigh Ann McCabe and husband Matthew of Trumbull and Robert G. Bertig Jr., and wife Stephanie of New Port Richey, Florida, four great grandchildren, Ryan and Danny McCabe and Meghan and Maya Bertig; also several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 9:15 a.m. from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
