Obituary

On March 30, 2022 George was finally reunited with his mother, whom he loved dearly. She left him much too early in life and this would prove to be a grief that he would carry through the years. Born on January 23, 1951 he was the only child of Juil Silvestro and George Fignar.

He was extremely proud of his time in the Navy serving as a chef aboard the USS Wasp and of his years spent at Sikorsky, retiring in 2015. George could always be seen wearing a baseball cap supporting one or the other of these.

He loved hot sauce, smearing it on everything and had a passion for astronomy, old black and white sitcoms, and anything pertaining to The Beatles. Back in the day, he was the bass player with a local band.

George was a kind, generous person who was a friend to all who knew him. He loved having a good time and was always quick with a witty comment. His hilarious sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Georges' cousins and extended family invite his friends to join them in a memorial of his life on Thursday, April 28th 10:00-11:30a.m., in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will follow immediately at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. To send online condolences, please visit www.redgatehennessy.com.
