George Ken Lapke, age 67, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Joan Stevens Lapke, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Ken was born in Bridgeport, son of Grace E. Herr Lapke and the late George J. Lapke. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 191 and retired after 19 years as a driver for Laidlaw Busing. He formerly worked at Carpenter Steel also for 19 years. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife and mother, include his loving children, Laurie A. Lapke of Stratford, Jean E. Papageorge and husband George A. Papageorge of Fairfield and Kenneth J. Lapke and wife Heather of Plainsville, his brother, Thomas M. Lapke of Bridgeport, eight cherished grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. He was predeceased by a daughter, Grace M. Lapke. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 9:30 a.m. directly in St. Ann Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
