Obituary

George Treat Oviatt, age 98, of Trumbull passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016.
He was born in on June 1, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT to Norine Kennelly Oviatt and Alfred Oviatt.
He attended St Augustine School, Central High School, and graduated from UConn with a BS degree in Civil Engineering after World War II. During World War II, he served in the US Army Air Corps as a Navigator in the 783rd Bomb Squad. He flew in and survived 50 missions over Europe. George met his late wife Frances Muldoon Oviatt at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, and they were married 45 years. He is survived by his 3 children George Jr. (Buddy), Susan, and Paul Oviatt. His grandchildren include the late David Oviatt, also Shelly Oviatt, Frannie Rogers, Ruth Oviatt, and Joe Oviatt, and 6 great grandchildren. George loved planting daffodils, tulips, peonies, and lilacs in our yard, and he grew the best strawberries, tomatoes, beans, corn, and squash in his garden on Garden Street! Friends may visit on Sunday in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, from 3:00-5:00p.m., followed by a funeral service at 5:00p.m. A private burial will be held at Mountain Grove Cemetery on Monday.
