Gerard "Jerry" C. Szymanski, age 54, of Shelton, passed away February 18, 2011, in his home. Jerry was the son of the late Carl M. and Gladys Marie Wagner Szymanski and a Connecticut resident all his life. He formerly worked for Sprague Meter and Servicemaster. Jerry loved sports, especially football and basketball. Survivors include his beloved sisters and brother, Kathleen Szymanski of Virginia, Patricia Szymanski of Shelton and Carl "Mike" Szymanski of Shelton; also several nieces and nephews. Friends may attend graveside services Friday, at 1:00 pm. in Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. Jerry was diagnosed with AML a form of leukemia in March, 2010 and his family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in his memory to the Smilow Cancer Hospital, Office of Development, c/o Yale – New Haven Hospital, P.O.
