Obituary

Gladys G. Shaw, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven. Gladys was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Bridgeport in 1964. She was the daughter of the late George and Emiline Kucera Guca. She worked for many years at the Town & Country Diner (Galaxy Diner) in Bridgeport and the Clam Box in Westport. Gladys attended Butler Business School, and after graduation was employed in administrative roles with the American Shakespeare Theater, ITT, Days Inn Hotel, and Sikorsky Aircraft. She retired from the Defense Contract Management Agency of Sikorsky Aircraft.  She loved to travel, having made several trips to England. She also enjoyed dancing, reading, all forms of needle work, and animal welfare. She was predeceased by a brother George Guca of Chicago. Gladys is survived by her three loving and devoted children; son, Anthony Shaw and wife Charline of Greenwich, daughters, Lois Rosenberg and husband Daniel of Bethany and Alice Droller and husband David of Naugatuck, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the ASPCA,  520 8th Avenue  New York, NY  10018.  Arrangements by the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Trumbull.
