Helen Heaney Sobolewski, age 88, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Felix A. Sobolewski, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Helen was born in Schenectady, NY, daughter of the late Richard and Annie Goodrich Heaney and lived most of her life in Stratford and Bridgeport. A graduate of Warren Harding High School, she retired after 27 years as traffic manager for W.I.C.C. Radio. Helen's memberships included the Friendship Club of St. Andrew Parish, Trumbull Women's Club, Pinewood Lake Association and the Lady's Guild of St. James Parish where she was a past president. She also volunteered at The Catholic Center in Bridgeport. Survivors include her two beloved sons, Richard E. Sobolewski and wife Paula and Joseph W. Sobolewski and wife Doreen, all of Bridgeport, five cherished grandchildren, Barry and wife Janet, Brendan and wife Tara, Brian, Sarah and Brigid, four great grandchildren, Casey, Molly, Benjamin and Annie; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Bert and William Heaney and a sister, Margaret Coombs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am. directly in St. Andrew Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
